North Cyprus Writing Retreat

The House of Mercy’s North Cyprus Writing retreat with the incredible “NICK MOSS Nick Moss has been recognized as one the great guitarists of his generation, garnering accolades from Buddy Guy and praise from Jambase, Relix, and Gratefulweb.com among many others. Once you have arrived, the retreat will provide your accommodation (single, twin or double rooms) We offer a weeks accommodation at the retreat or poolside apts in the same vicinity, with half board meals/drinks, all freshly prepared by professional Head Chef Jonathon daily within the reterat, cooking delicious breakfasts to order and either lunch or dinner alongside Chef Martin.
All dietary requirements can be catered for, Chef Jonathon has been a professional chef for over 19 years running fine dining restaurants in the UK and Cyprus and specialises in several cuisines. Chef Martin is also a head chef specialising in pastry and a cocktail mixologist.
Included in the price of the retreat is breakfast, Lunch OR Dinner at the retreat, unlimited coffee/tea/water/soft drinks, happy hour cocktails, single, double and twin rooms and shared apts are all available to cover any sleeping arrangement, accommodation is discussed upon booking and confirmed and all transport for the week. Nick is a special kind of artist specialising in all areas of performance and creativity, so while your enjoying the stunning charm and elements of North Cyprus you can pick his brains and learn some great techniques about songwriting.
you will find him an inspiration and a valuable source of your songwriting development. He will be giving workshops and one on one tuition for song craft. Nick has had an impressive 14 albums to date and many album awards to his name and his achievements
….song-craft is the priority of course, but as well as our daily retreat breakfast jam sessions we will be encouraging pool conferences, Boat trip ‘seminars’, Ocakbasi bar lyric writing, basically taking the songwriting mojo with us all over the Island…all participants are welcome to choose their itinerary to suit their mood and if you want to opt out of anything no sweat!
Its quite simply a fab week at a fab place at YOUR PACE.
AND if your partner would like to join you, but doesn’t write or play an instrument they are more than welcome and use the facilities of the retreat if they so wish at anytime they choose or indeed join in!
there is no experience required for this retreat or they can indulge in the peace and tranquility of the surroundings and just enjoy the music.All of the ‘OUT’ meal locations have been carefully selected to be included in our retreat experience including A Local Turkish Ocak Basi restaurant / Sunset Galleon Private Show /, Stilts Restaurant(on the sea/beach), the inspiring Bellapais Monastery.
Nightlife is varied and plentiful from the stunning Kyrinia Harbour and castle to the open air clubs and bars/restaurants, transport is included to all the group ‘ON LOCOs’ but you can if you wish to hop off the bus you are welcome to take some time to adventure free style at your own cost.

Our retreat of 2022 will be no doubt a celebration of great writing creativity and a return of the freedom of travel with our special guest songwriter, across the board award winner and international touring artist Ian Siegal https://iansiegal.com . Ian will be joining us to mentor, advise and discuss all aspects of songwriting, and you may get a few up close and personal tunes out of him to!!
You can expect to be taken care of in every way with accommodation at the retreat and poolside apartment, transport to all the pre-organised ‘ON LOCATION’ workshops, professional catering and unlimited refreshments at the retreat, our professional private chef Jonathon will be on site daily, cooking up his delights at the homestead, from the daily the BIG BREAKFAST SESSION (before or after your morning swim) to our midweek PORCH JAM BBQ where we invite the best local talent on the island to participate, with an invited audience.
The week has a bespoke itinerary including several ‘ON LOCO’ daily workshops around the island from a private chartered ‘galleon ship, beach hoppin session with onboard lunch to the historic Bellapais monastery for an inspirational sundowner, finishing up at the Sunday beach front finale showcase after another swim of course!…the rest of the time can be spent indulging and finding your inspiration to really use your time to create and write…. this is what its all about!

Remember the daily itinerary is not compulsory, if you would prefer to opt out one day, find a quiet spot and write/lounge for a few hours .. as they say you can please yourself! The retreat is your retreat to totally indulge in, it is very peaceful and some people don’t wanna leave…ever!
Our daily “ON LOCO” is an optional opportunity to see the beautiful island of Cyprus, and you must know that throughout the week we are available at all waking times for one on one songwriting mentoring and advice. We have several bolthole hangs in walking distance, three infinity pools, Pearl Bay Beach (two min), and if you fancy an extra pamper there is a 5 star gym and Hammam/Massage Oasis 5 mins walk in the brand new Maldives Development. All participants will have their own rooms (unless couples) and bathrooms.
There will be an array of instruments from guitars/ bass/uke/mandolin/banjo/keyboard/harmonicas/drums and percussion to play and jam with, keep that guitar around your neck for a week if you want, or that harp in your pocket when were on location on the balmy nights, to the smoky Ocakbasi Turkish BBQs, ‘Sand in your gourmet sandwiches’ picnics , on top of that you will no doubt have all sorts of performances, nuggets of wisdom, hard core blues stories….the real McCoy, songwriting gold from IAN SIEGAL!
You would be responsible for booking your own flights to Ercan you can go through www.flypgs.com (we recommend to fly into Ercan/Lefkosa (or Turkish Airlines) to avoid crossing the border from Larnica (South Cyprus), but its your choice and a taxi which must be booked in advance.
Couples are welcome even if your partner is not a songwriter or player, all rooms have air conditioning so if you would to register your interest or would like more info on cost and deposits please email to book now.
